S.382 failed to make it through NJ Legislature
Proponents of assisted suicide suffered a setback this month when assisted suicide legislation in New Jersey failed to make it through the New Jersey Legislature. Senate Bill No. 382, known as the Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act, would have legalized the self-administration of a lethal dose of medication in the state.
Though the failure of S.382 was certainly good news for opponents of assisted suicide, we must remain vigilant; there is little reason to think that the failure in New Jersey will cause the push for assisted suicide in D.C. to abate. Therefore, this is a good opportunity to review why the proposed assisted suicide legislation in D.C. must be opposed and how you can help.
With this in mind, we urge you to do the following:
- First, get the facts on B21-0038, the Death with Dignity Act of 2015, here;
- second, stay informed on the issue by following No DC Suicide on Twitter, and liking No DC Suicide on Facebook; and,
- finally, take action by sending individual councilmembers a message of opposition. This can be done here.
As always, we thank you for your diligence in opposing assisted suicide in the District of Columbia.
